knowing is better than wondering

February 5, 2009 · 2 Comments

tinigilan ko kakanood ng marathon ng grey’s anatomy sometime noong season 2. naaalala ko pa kung bakitko  sya inayawan… noong time na kinausap ni meredith is dr. sheppard and begged him to choose her… ulk! simula nun, tinamad na ko manood… hay naku… for some reason i hate it when girls do that (not that i haven’t done it), pero i can’t take it whether in real life or tv.

grey-anatomy1

anyway, what i really like about the tv show are meredith’s narrations of her thoughts, and how these are weaved in the story. here’s one quote from grey’s anatomy i liked so far…

dr. meredith grey : A couple of hundred years ago, Benjamin Franklin shared with the world the secret of his success. Never leave that till tomorrow, he said, which you can do today. This is the man who discovered electricity. You think more people would listen to what he had to say. I don’t know why we put things off, but if I had to guess, I’d have to say it has a lot to do with fear. Fear of failure, fear of rejection, sometimes the fear is just of making a decision, because what if you’re wrong? What if you’re making a mistake you can’t undo? The early bird catches the worm. A stitch in time saves nine. He who hesitates is lost. We can’t pretend we hadn’t been told. We’ve all heard the proverbs, heard the philosophers, heard our grandparents warning us about wasted time, heard the damn poets urging us to seize the day. Still sometimes we have to see for ourselves. We have to make our own mistakes. We have to learn our own lessons. We have to sweep today’s possibility under tomorrow’s rug until we can’t anymore. Until we finally understand for ourselves what Benjamin Franklin really meant. That knowing is better than wondering, that waking is better than sleeping, and even the biggest failure, even the worst, beat the hell out of never trying.

pero minsan the “chicken” side of me would really rather not know. minsan lang naman….

love… sa mata ng mga bata

January 17, 2009 · Leave a Comment

vday

got this email from my sister yesterday, it’s a very nice read so i am sharing with you…

——————-

subject : what love means to a 4-8 year old

Slow down for three minutes to read this. It is so worth it. Touching words from the mouth of babes.
A group of professional people posed this question to a group of 4 to 8 year-olds, ‘What does love mean?’

The answers they got were broader and deeper than anyone could have imagined. See what you think.

‘When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn’t bend over and paint her toenails anymore.
So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even when his hands got arthritis too. That’s love.’

Rebecca- age 8

‘When someone loves you, the way they say your name is different.
You just know that your name is safe in their mouth.’

Billy – age 4

‘Love is when a girl puts on perfume and a boy puts on shaving cologne and they go out and smell each other.’

Karl – age 5

‘Love is when you go out to eat and give somebody most of your French fries without making them give you any of theirs.’

Chrissy – age 6

‘Love is what makes you smile when you’re tired.’

Terri – age 4

‘Love is when my mommy makes coffee for my daddy and she takes a sip before giving it to him, to make sure the taste is OK.’

Danny – age 7

‘Love is when you kiss all the time. Then when you get tired of kissing, you still want to be together and you talk more.
My Mommy and Daddy are like that. They look gross when they kiss’

Emily – age 8

‘Love is what’s in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen.’

Bobby – age 7 (Wow!)

‘If you want to learn to love better, you should start with a friend who you hate,’

Nikka – age 6
(we need a few million more Nikka’s on this planet)

‘Love is when you tell a guy you like his shirt, then he wears it everyday.’

Noelle – age 7

‘Love is like a little old woman and a little old man who are still friends even after they know each other so well.’

Tommy – age 6

‘During my piano recital, I was on a stage and I was scared. I looked at all the people watching me and saw my daddy waving and smiling.

He was the only one doing that. I wasn’t scared anymore.’

Cindy – age 8

‘My mommy loves me more than anybody
You don’t see anyone else kissing me to sleep at night.’

Clare – age 6

‘Love is when Mommy gives Daddy the best piece of chicken.’

Elaine-age 5

‘Love is when Mommy sees Daddy smelly and sweaty and still says he is handsomer than Robert Redford.’

Chris – age 7

‘Love is when your puppy licks your face even after you left him alone all day.’

Mary Ann – age 4

‘I know my older sister loves me because she gives me all her old clothes and has to go out and buy new ones.’

Lauren – age 4

‘When you love somebody, your eyelashes go up and down and little stars come out of you.’ (what an image)

Karen – age 7

‘Love is when Mommy sees Daddy on the toilet and she doesn’t think it’s gross.’

Mark – age 6

‘You really shouldn’t say ‘I love you’ unless you mean it. But if you mean it, you should say it a lot. People forget.’

Jessica – age 8

And the final one

The winner was a four year old child whose next door neighbor was an elderly gentleman who had recently lost his wife.

Upon seeing the man cry, the little boy went into the old gentleman’s yard, climbed onto his lap, and just sat there.

When his Mother asked what he had said to the neighbor, the little boy said,

‘Nothing, I just helped him cry’

what is your ideal morning like?

October 21, 2008 · 4 Comments

i love getting up in the morning! i clap my hands and say, this is going to be a great day! – dicky fox from the movie jerry maguire

dati nung bata pa ako, mornings at home are spent na nag-uunahan kaming magkakapatid downstairs, not to start the morning right away, hehehe… but to lie down some more. 2 kasi ang sofa eh 3 kids kami, so the race is on! we would spend siguro 15 to 30 more minutes na nakahiga until mapagalitan na na kami ng parents ko we start to hear the “t” and “b” word – tamad and batugan :-D .

when i grew up during college, hindi ko nararamdaman minsan ang umaga kasi we sleep late and wake up lunch time na. although inu-umaga nga pala kami kaka-gimmick nun! so we would end up eating out before going home so either goodah (kasi yun ang 24hrs na kainan nun) or sa kahit anong bukas na lugawan.

ngayon na part na ako ng mga nakikipag-unahan pagpasok sa opisina… mas efficient and mas me saysay na ang umaga ko (i think). so i get ready for office, kung me time mag-breakfast and then drive to work or swap sila depende kung me hinahabol na appointment. and then we start the battle sa opisina. bakit battle? next time nalang :-) .

pero for me a perfect morning is during the weekend when i would wake up at my own desired time and have breakfast leisurely with family. hay… i do not get to do it much often now pero i try to enjoy it as much as i can. breakfast taken at leisure is the best thing to do for me. mapa sa bahay, sa hotel, sa jollibee, sa mcdo, sa tagaytay or kahit saan pa. as long as it is taken slowly and you get to think of the day ahead and higit sa lahat meron kang time, tumatigtig sa kahit saan at kahit ano… thinking of nothing!

hoping this is going to be a great day nga…
