from the philippine daily inquirer today :
RP pushcart educator CNN hero of the year – INQUIRER.net, Philippine News for Filipinos.

mabuhay ka efren!
inspiring exerpts from the news article…
“Each person has a hidden hero within, you just have to look inside you and search it in your heart, and be the hero to the next one in need,” Peñaflorida.
… Serve, serve well, serve others above yourself and be happy to serve… Peñaflorida.
i particularly liked what jim dalton, cnn worldwide president said before the event :
“We do something that’s not done—shine a light on everyday people that do extraordinary work,” Walton.
they say nobody can beat a filipino especially if it’s online voting. i say, i’m sure he got a lot of votes from non-filipinos, too.

yesterday, filipinos celebrated victory once again
from the phippine daily inquirer…
The greatest fighter of era, is filipino…
He likened himself to a tiger. Actually, he could have referred to himself as a boxing deity and no one would have argued…
A tiger in seventh heaven. Although with his latest accomplishment, he is being referred to as the GOAT—the greatest of all time…
from cnn…
Pacquiao took more punches than we’d seen him take against Diaz, De La Hoya or Hatton — but was never hurt…
The Filipino’s ring generalship never wavered. He was too fast, too sharp, too busy for Cotto and the result was deserved…
from yahoo news…
Manny Pacquiao’s speed and power were way too much for Miguel Cotto’s heart…
“This is the last weight division for me,” Pacquiao said. “It’s history for me and more importantly a Filipino did it…

photo from yahoo news
quoting the inquirer once again from this news post (pacquio TKOs cotto, makes history)…
No man has won seven world titles in seven weight divisions and only five boxers have won six – Pacquiao, Oscar de la Hoya, Thomas Hearns, Hector Camacho, and James Toney.
this is the kind of news we filipinos need now (after all the typhoon tragedies, politics and other source of depression) – a lot of pride and glory.

ok… inaantok na ko and pagod na pagod na. i drove all the way from rizal para mag pack because i leave early tom again. so i finished after 2 hours of sorting, editing and finally deciding hindi ko kailangan dalin ang madaming bagay for this trip. i was surfing the net and visited my favorite blogs. and there i was in OAP! OAP is one famous filipino blog. as in.
i met anton sa office before he made the big leap to leave the corporate world. last august 22 we went with rhea at cubao expo to look at the ninoy and cory flat shoes and bangles she wanted to buy (but it’s made to order pala) as pasalubong for her ate when she visits them sa US.
we visited the bead lady’s shop at cubao expo and saw anton there. i bought an audrey hepburn lovely bangle. so checkout this post in OAP. i think my age shows in the photo there — hehehe… ok lang!

as featured in OAP
the photo was taken inside the bead lady shop, anton was with other photographers as well.
this photo is taken by rhea while we were having snacks in belissima.

so, before i left for seoul i have seen ayala malls’ greenology ad along c5. of course the eco totes lauch caught my attention, and soon as i’m back i went to glorietta and searched for them.
my bag of choice is the one by michi calica-sotto.

the red bag

my choice - the beige bag

the description up close
the random wrinkling of the bag symbolizes the cracks of Mother Earth caused by our collective abuse. but here’s good news : choose to reuse, reduce and recycle resources today, and we can help reverse the effect in 10 years. made with love, repurposed canvass and tarpaulin, this reuseable tote by michi calica works and looks better than any plastic bag.

we reuse em' all
the bag’s underside is made of re-used tarpaulins to further promote waste management. michi calica’s choice is the earth day network.

today… a storm threathens the city. but filipinos braved the weather and came out of the streets to say goodbye and thank you to cory. a great leader… a great christian… a great filipino.
today i joined the hundred of thousands of people who stood by the streets amidst the heavy rains and the long wait. we stood by the rain and watched the mass from the giant tv screen in front of the malate church along roxas blvd. we joined the filipinos and non-filipinos, young and old — we were all there. we got wet, we cried, we followed her, we did the laban sign and we wore yellow…
the travel from manila cathedral to the manila memorial park lasted for 8 hours.

we cried as she passedby

yellow & black
today… i was part of history.
more history captured here.

surrounded by flowers and guarded by loyal followers

nearing her husband's shrine...
