pieces of them…

March 13, 2009 · 2 Comments

more on the eraserheads… sorry i can’t help it, five days after the event and i am still raving about it. i still surf the internet about it and i still read about them. goes to show how they have been realy missed.

one really nice read about them is this article from jessica zafra in the philippine star – the end (emotional weather report by jessica zafra). she tells us the phenomenon that was (and still is) the eraserheads. why our generation can totally connect with them and have not forgotten them even after years of absence.

pieces of the article :

In the Philippines in the 1990s, the Eraserheads were the Beatles. Whether you bought their albums or not, you know their songs. They came at you from all sides, they got their hooks into your brain. You may not even be aware that you know them until years later you get stuck in traffic and one is played on the radio.  Why do you know all the words, including the backup vocals?

Every other Tagalog song is about thwarted love, but which one nails it like the band’s first hit, Pare Ko? The narrator addresses the listener directly, as a friend and confidante. How can you not like a band that addresses you in this manner? To seal your imaginary shared history he adds, “Wag mong sabihing ‘Na naman.’

I have this theory about why Ely decided to be the interviewee from hell. Apart from the fact that not everyone is thrilled to reveal his innermost thoughts to the media. It’s like this: Ely has already put the contents of his life out there. They’re in the songs.

Farewells piled on farewells; if the reunion were a work of fiction it would be rejected for lack of plausibility. But this isn’t just their story anymore. The Eheads have written themselves into our story, and really, who cares about plausibility at a time like this? The gates are open. It’s time for your last goodbye.

a must read to all eheads fans.

not that into you

February 21, 2009 · Leave a Comment

warning : me mga spoilers ang post na to. not for those who have not watched but is planning to watch.

hes-just-not-that-into-you1

this movie is about the many faces of rejection. totoo.

it is a story about several people both single and in a relationship, a story about a couple in a 7year relationship where the girl wanted marriage and the guy does not believe in one, about a married couple’s slide to growing apart and about 5 single people’s confusion and quest on being single and in the whole duration of the movie, i lost count on how many times both the men and women got rejected in this movie.

nakakapagod. sabi nga ng charater ni drew :

I had this guy leave me a voicemail at work, so I called him at home, and then he emailed me to my BlackBerry, and so I texted to his cell, and now you just have to go around checking all these different portals just to get rejected by seven different technologies. It’s exhausting.

sad diba? but nevertheless i liked the movie. siguro kasi most of the times, misy of the time i know the signs of rejection and i try, as in try, try, try to take them gracefully. pero of course i have my share of gigi-moments too when i was younger. gigi is ginnifer goodwyn’s characther who never gets tired of being rejected! since i went to see this film with girl friends – lahat kami gusto namin sya upakan sa sobrang hopeful and stupid ng character nya. hahahaha! everytime me scene sya, my friend and i will whisper “oh no… oh no… ano na naman ang kagagahan mo ngayon?”, and the other friend even threathen to walk out of the film saying, “sorry, hindi ko kinakaya ang kahihiyan nya!”. nakakatawa ang movie at nakakatawa ang mga reactions namin :-D

nakakapagod panoorin ang movie, but when they played the song – somewhere only we know  by keane (big fan ako ng singer na to), i started to feel good at the end of it.

feel good movie ba sya? para sa akin — oo, kasi at the same time it made you realize how at one (or maybe a hundred) point in your life we, at least my friends and i acted like them and you realize, you shouldn’t have kasi nakakahiya pala yun ;-)

for me, best part of the movie is justin long as alex :-)

so sana nga dialogue ko na to at sinasabi to someone pero, hindi pa rin! ;-)

this is the part 2 ng a very special love!

here’s the trailer – note of the original cast and orginal director pa rin.

nice lines captured sa trailer :

hoy anak! dahan dahan naman, magpakipot ka naman kahit konti!!!

****

boyfriend mo pa ba si sir migui o ka-phone pal mo nalang sya?

****

i dont get jealous! i’ve never been jealous! i can’t get jealous! ngayon lang!

edit 28 February 2009

so napanood na namin sya kagabi.

what do i dont like  in the move?

- sarah’s wig (why do they have to make her wear one?)

- sarah’s shoes – wedge sandals :-)

- bernard palanca’s line when sarah told him magre-resign sya because migui is having a hard time at the new office and he needs her. he said – “did he say that?”. oo nga naman…

- mikee cojuangco on screen again :-D

well it’s still a pinoy love story movie :-)

wonder what jessica zafra think about it? click here ;-)

and here’s one from clickthecity.com
